Crystal Springs

Morning,

 

I'm going to crystal springs (near Pilgrims Rest, Mpumalanga) this December, anyone know some good MTB routes around there?

There is an awesome nature reserve at Crystal. Fantastic climbs, great animals, lots and lots of riding in the reserve. No charge for entry, access from the near the last chalet.You won't need anywhere else to ride....

Also, riding through the resort as well, lekker pine forests, a dam. Clocked 73 kph on a MTB from the restaurant down to our chalet

Some beaut road climbs there - robbers pass at the top of the list.

 

In terms of mtb, just exit the resort gates and disappear into the forests. A nice target to aim for is to reach Mac Mac falls - arrange for wife/gf to meet you there so you can get the lift back. You need a bit of a sense of adventure though - to disappear into the forest and follow logging routes through the mounatins in the general direction of mac mac, not really knowing how long it is or exactly where you are most of the time.

 

Then again, isn't that what mountain biking's all about?

Very nice resort , very nice place to ride and have good times with the family .

BEWARE of the monkeys , don't leave anything open ever .

Not even for one second , the staff also use this as a excuse to steal your booze .

The monkeys that got in by us only drink the finest wines and Jack Daniels , but

leave cookies and sweets .
