Hi , obviously I'm new here at this forum so I don't know if this is the right place to post this thread .

I'm looking for a training partner ; as my profile indicate I'm living in Somerset West . Preferrably it would also be somebody who compete in MTB racing events .

There is a very active cycle club in Somerset West. I know they do rides regularly.

I have trained with them a couple of times , only dislike I have with them is they NEVER stop at traffic lights and they drive on the right side of the yellow lines a lot! I have trained about 10 times with them and the only time they stopped (or half the group did) is when the one guy punctured just before a traffic light.

At what times and how many times per week are you available for riding?

There are night rides at Lourensford on Thursday with cycle addiction , one awesome adrenalin filled ride , you just need your own lights

otherwise Cycle lab winelands have group rides daily @ 5:30 (road)

Ok ... not the same experience I had.

Usually I ride each day in the morning between 9-16km and afternoon between 16-46km , but I've injured myself Saturday on the jumps so I'm taking it calm now - I did 27km yesterday .

It only takes one person to set an example ... The only place I ride on the right side of the road is in Beach road in Strand , especially when it is packed with cars and pedestrians - then at least I have some insurance the chances of being clipped from behind is much less .

Thanks but no thanks , I'm not into night rides (yet) ; maybe in the future . thumbup1.gif

As with Mads, also not my experience. Does happen from time to time I'm sure, especially on days when groups get big, probably true of most clubs out there. They seem to be working to improve that though - recent rides have been divided into smaller groups, with ThinkBike support frequently too.

They ride some varied routes - but I doubt yellow lines and robots are going to be an issue on most MTB, unless they're really taking some odd routes

Rode with two members of the wannabees yesterday , it was a pleasant experience - compared to that I'm used to road training . It convinced me to join the club in the future .

Cool, glad you enjoyed it. DId the regular Wednesday road ride with them today - very nice apart from the rain coming back from Franschhoek!
