Wheels & Tyres

What would be a good wheel & tyre build for a 650b Hardtail XC Project.

(Aside for the best deal I can find on the hub)

I've been riding Mavic Crosstrails

  • Front: Conti. UST Mountain King & now X-King 2.4
  • Rear: Conti. UST Race King 2.2

Maybe not the lightest combo, but proven "bomb proof"

Done Sabie Experience, Wine2Whales, Berg&Bush with no tyre/wheel issues.

What would give similar performance in a 650b build?

  • No Hub/freewheel issues
  • Holds true in rough conditions
  • Tough Spokes
  • Puncture proof
  • Good local support & parts availability (JHB area)
  • Maybe lighter build?

Who / where do I find these at what price?

BTW - I'm 1,79 meters, 80kgs.
