Sudden incorrect GPS points today @ 7:05 (Edge 500)

Riding along today and suddenly my Garmin starts showing 3,000km travelled. Nice, but we'd only been riding an hour.

 

Look at the TCX file back home, and sure enough there's a batch of spurious GPS Trackpoint rows in the file. Managed to manually remove these to correct the file. Just wondering if my Edge is on the blink, or could something else have caused this.

 

Anyone else ever had this on an Edge 500 (or other Garmin)?

 

Device has been rock solid since new - just one incident of it doing a reset on me part way through a few weeks back. Hoping it's not suddenly playing up on me.

So I know of at least one other rider got a GPS error today, at around the same time too.

 

Wonder if anyone else did. Could the satellites have glitched in some way? Maybe it was a solar flare, I see one was reported for yesterday:
