s14phoenix Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Cheers s14phoenix - a little bit of heaven in suburbia Have you tried the new red section between the 10th and 18th holes? another kilometre of fun The next organised night ride will be on the 28th of January 2016. The trail will be open again from tomorrow after four days of golf interruption Enjoy the ride Have not had a chance to ride the new section. Would probably need to haul butt again to get into the top 10 again on the latest route (personal challenge). Some of the corners getting bermed-out naturally is pretty cool. but if the trail fairies would see fit to add a few small ones? (would be a nice addition)
Pete the Pirate Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 The big work on the trail is now essentially complete with a total distance of 16km on the red route. We have a little bit of decking to add in the new section including a viewing deck with a bench overlooking the dam (sundowner time). We have two small additions planned for the middle forest that will include some north shore style bridges and a few 100 metres of trail. Given that it is just Cliff and I doing all of the work when we have a gap, we are reasonably happy with the progress. Slow and steady Our intention for later this year is to start refining the trail. We will take it section by section and refine the lines and corners. One of our goals is to manually add berms to many of the corners to help carry speed through the trail. We are also planning a 6 hour timed night race for both individuals and teams on the 9th of April 2016 running from 17h00 to 23h00. We will advise more details soon. Have a great weekend.

What about a specific build day? Maybe one Sunday? I'd bring along my bucket and spade!
Pete the Pirate Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Thank you for the offer. There is that section of 'sea sand' where you can build your sandcastles . It is a good suggestion. We'll plan accordingly and keep you posted.
Tumbleweed Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Cool! Gonna be playing on the trails this weekend... Maybe I should take Paul up on the offer of the use of his fat bike for the "sea sand"...
Pete the Pirate Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 YOU HAVE TO RIDE A FAT BIKE (but please warn Paul that he may not get it back) I have all but retired my 29er for the club trails. My Fat Bike is my steed of choice. I have set PB's through sections without really trying simply by having so much grip. ENORMOUS FUN. I am no race snake and have no pretention to the Strava KOM, I just love enjoying the trail. My Fat Bike doubles that enjoyment factor .
s14phoenix Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Actually been testing my new tyres there since I know the trails well and could compare grip levels. Is definitely a traction and grip test of note if you start pushing harder. I think the perfect bike would be a fatty since you don't need much suspension just grip. Hardtails and XC bikes are probably the next due to the tight and twisty nature of the trails. The varying surface is also nice and testing as you could pay for not being wake-up.
Pete the Pirate Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Quite right. I have already purchased many square metres of the club by testing grip levels. Last month I lost the back end of my fattie on the leaf debris just off the trail line. Yet another piece of land in my bank account .
zniper Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Hi, i haven't been there in ages (was hit by a car on the MTB) , i have also deleted all the segments that belonged to me (all the ones that started with BCC) because i created them way back when the place was opened , can i maybe ask that someone recreates them ?
Pete the Pirate Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 My suggestion is to ride the complete trail this weekend and start all of your BCC segments again - A new year, a new start. Hope that your accident hasn't caused permanent damage.
Davey_Jones Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Hey yeah give us a shout or post a schedule when you working on the track and will try jump in a lend a hand. i'm sure my mates i ride with will join in too.

s14phoenix Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Rode 2 laps again... found the new section only on the second lap but it is going to be awesome when it is run-in a bit. Right now its a bit draggy. It is quite technical also and I think noobs should be cautious like the first red section - if you battle on the normal tracks don't attempt (then again everyone needs to learn by doing I suppose - we all have to farm at some stage) Great work again and cant wait for more updates. I think we should call the new red section "paddadam red trail" due to the slimy looking pond it circles That one off camber corner you should have a sign saying "no left turn" - the trail looks like it splits and if you go left you going swimming with the paddas
Tumbleweed Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Hey Pete, nice to realise who you actually are! Hahahaha! Ended up taking a 29er along on Sunday morn - Paul's fattie being out of commission, as you heard - and actually loved it. Seemed a bit more work avoiding stuff, but had a jol. Tried the new section around the "scenic" dam! Quite lekker, but a challenge getting back up the dam wall in the mud!
