Internal cables and cable tension help...

Recommended Posts

I was wondering what the options were for managing cable tension on a road bike with internal cables. On external cables there are those barrel adjusters on the down tube. On internal cabled bikes how do you adjust tension, particularly the FD. (RD has an adjuster at the deraileur)

Are there options other than putting those in-line adjusters in (which are ugly IMO and kinda ruin the clean look of the internal cables)

Any advice?

You will not need to reset the FD cable on an ongoing basis. I cannot remember when last I had to reset mine. If your settings does go out, loosen the cable bolt and pull the cable a bit tighter and it should be back to normal

Thanks 695!

One more potentially silly question... Do you need special ferrules for the internal gear cables?

I saw this pic and it got me wondering... http://brimages.bikeboardmedia.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/guru-mechanical-electronic-cable-stops.jpg
