Chain wheel noise / bolt contact

Hi there

/DISCLAIMER: I'm new to cycling and know very little...

Was hoping someone can help me, I did a race this weekend and close to the end my MTB started make a grinding sound, which I eventually identified as coming from the chain wheel.

There is a bolt/screw protruding from the frame and it is making contact with the chain when on the small chain ring. The screw has clearly taken some damage from the contact. Here are 2 photos that will hopefully help -

What am I looking at? What is wrong? How do I fix it?

Thanks!

Displaying my noobness I would say it looks like a bolt utilized when attaching a direct mount front derailleur (similar to pics below). My guess assumption is that the bolt wiggled itself loose due to vibrations and made contact with the chain initially. Best bet would be to fasten bolt again and using some LockNut.

But then again I might be chasing shadows......

Hope you get it sorted out! What bike is it? Scott Scale?

Thank you, I think you may be on the right track here! Guess a visit to my LBS is in order.

Yes, it's a Scott Scale 910.

Txs for the reply. :)
