Thanks but i want to know what these measurements and different types etc is... So next time i buy a rim or a derailer i know what to look for...

So if i replace my crank i know whats the diff between a 2x10 36/42 and know if it will fit

Those things you have mentioned ie 2 x 10 and 36/42 are variables for which there are choices. So are you planning to move from a 9 speed to a 10 speed or a 3 chainring to a 2 chainring set up or even an 1 x 11 chainring. If you are going with a 2 x10 then the 36 will be the number of teeth on the smaller chainring and the 42 will be number of teeth on the bigger chainring. I could go on and on but these decisions are based on what type of riding you are going to be doing and what type of rider you are. If you are really concerned about these issues rather go and see a LBS than buy online so that you get a full understanding of what you are buying and what your needs are.

The fr derailer should be clamp mount, direct mount is the one that is bolted to the frame. Check to see if your cable works from the top or the bottom. rear derailer is standard although 11 sp has a new type of derailer but if you buy the groupset complete then it wil accommodate the chainrings, chain ect...

Standard crank length is 175 and you probably have a GXP BB which is the BB that has the frame cups with threads. You could change it to a pressfit BB which is a lot lighter, you will just have to get the cups removed and replaced with the pressfit cups. They should be epoxied in if it's a carbon frame.

If you go for 10sp then a 10 sp chain is what you're looking for

shimano do 26/38 std crank chainring you also get 28/40 or 30/42

cassettes you can choose from are 11/32, 11/34 or 11/36 check what you currently have and if you require more gears while doing steep climbs then go for the bigger cassette i.e. 11-36

wheels depends on your axle if it's a through axle or skewer. If it's a skewer then the hub would have to accommodate the skewer and 10 or 11sp hub. If you're buying new then you would ask for the desired requirement.
