2014 Giant 27.5 Trance 2 vs 2014 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp 29

Okay... So I asked this question in the Giant Trance thread (derailed it slightly), but the guys there might be biased

 

I sold my bike this week and now I'm looking for a new trail bike, for under R25k... The Trance has been on my mind for some months and I know it is exceptional value, but now I have found I can get the Stumpy for about the same price. I mostly ride the Tygerberg trails (Conties, Hoogekraal, new Bloemendal trails and also Welvanpas) and I want a fun bike that can handle some pops, drops and rocks, but climb steep jeep track very well too. I'm not really doing any races.

 

Hoping to get some more honest opinions from people who have spent time on either (or both) of these bikes. I am busy trying to arrange to test both, as I know this is the only way to make my final decision.

Cyclefunatic quoted me that on the 2014, a few months back. It was a winter special. Not sure if they will still do it at that price.

 

As you might have seen, I got the Trance in the end and I'm very happy with it.

@GuyOnBike two decent bikes but surely it should be a simple 27.5 vs 29 decision?

 

If you want speed 29. If you want agility and like jumping 27.5.

 

Other than that the only major plus on the SJ is the Fork.
