NickmtbTrails Posted August 14, 2014 Share Event Name: Homeward Bound ChallengeWhen: 30 October 2015Where: Winterton to Salt Rock, Kwazulu-NatalCategory: MTBWelcome to Homeward bound Challenge2014 The 4th running of Homeward bound takes place on the 30st October (registration) and 31st October 2015(Race day). This event is a Point to Point race, starting at Mountain Splendour (Northern Drakensberg) and finishing 300km later in Saltrock. Riders will be faced with a number challenges throughout their journey Home. The event starts at 12am in the morning and teams have 24 hours to complete the 300km track. GPS Navigation The route is 100% unmarked and riders will need to navigate their way by means of a GPS unit. A number of check points will be placed at random points along the route, to ensure teams stay on the correct track. Support drivers will also be given a GPS track ,as well as written instructions. Teams Homeward bound is a Teams event. Competitors have the option of either riding as a 3 man Team , 4 man Team3 Man team: consist of 2 riders and 1 Support driver. There are 2 categories in this format: *Male:All the riders must be males. (The support driver can be a Female) *Mixed :A minimum of one female rider must complete the entire distance 4 Man Team : consist of 3 riders and 1 Support driver. There is 1 categories in this format: *Male:All the riders must be males. The support driver can be a Female NEW route for 2015 The 300km route consists largely of rolling district roads and meandering jeep tracks, allowing for easy navigation. Riders will be spoilt for scenery, with views of the amazing Drakensberg, through to the Thorn veld. Don’t be fooled by the lack of single track. The Challenge lies in completing this beast of a journey. Homeward bound will test your endurance, navigational skills and the ability to get along with your team mates for the duration of the event. Easy! Entry Fee includes: Dinner at registration Tented accommodation at the start Event Jacket (Finishers ONLY) Bottle of JC Le Roux for the Finishing teams You should enter if: 1. You are looking for a new team event. 2. Would like to ride over 200km in one day 3. What to see new places 4. Love riding you bike The event is limited to 100 teams.
