I did the marathon on Saturday and for once my heart rate behaved itself in the extreme heat. Very happy with my time of 4h20. I also did the half marathon on Sunday. The weather was absolutely perfect. We had a light drizzle here and there but the tracks was nice and dry. I felt my legs from Saturday but also very happy with my 2h21. The race organisation at Sabie is top drawer. I will be back year after year for this event!!!

Heat got me at 32 km done the last 40 with "moerse" cramps and promise myself that i am finish with this type of races. But unfortunately just enter for the Clarens 75 km again. (Madness???????????). (eat rennies and slow mags without any improvement). Never sweat like this - avg temp according to Garmin was 33. 5 C with highest 43 C. Not a good time but i have finished and that's what count. Next year i am back for more suffering. I must just remember to make a appointment with a shrink.

I thought I was prepped for some tough climbing, but heck did I underestimate just how brutal the climbing really was!!! 05:44 in the saddle out of batch EIt was a great race though - logistics was really top class.

At the finish they scanned my wife's number a few times and the guy said fine we can go but now she's not on the list? Who do we contact for assistance? It's also sorry that they don't have the mobile showers anymore[emoji30]We had a shower at the venue afterwards in those blue portable showers to the right of the portaloo's. They weren't really marked well which is maybe why you missed them
