Swimming in Emmarentia

It's safer to swim when the paddlers aren't doing a time trial. Swimmers are hard to see from the boat, even more so when you're trying your best to beat your time or if you're sitting a slip and focussing on staying there. Sunday morning there is an unofficial 8am time trial. A boat hitting a swimmer at speed won't be pleasant for the swimmer. I always got the feeling that swimmers didn't realise this!

Not sure what other safety aspects you were worried about. Patrick the car guard is normally there in the mornings and afternoons. He really does do a good job and should be compensated handsomely for his services.

Thanks! So I should be ok from about 9h30 /10H00 on Sunday, I'll make sure I wear a bright-coloured swim cap?

Yes! And a bright coloured cap does make a difference but not if the paddler is going "flat box"!

Also try stay on the inside of the bouy's, out of the "shipping lanes".

But you'll be fine at that time. Enjoy.
