The HERO Challenge is back in 2015 for another explosive year of road cycling. With new routes and race formats, it’s guaranteed to be another fantastic year of racing!

2014’s HERO Challenge witnessed incredible racing, often with spectators on the edge of their seats as seasoned riders raced their hearts out and we saw new talent emerge and rise to the top. The races grew hugely in participation with each event, creating a more competitive and exciting racing field. Lights By Linea are thrilled to be hosting these HERO’s again in 2015 and can’t wait to welcome new HERO’s to these adrenaline-charged races!

 

Registration for the event will open at 15:00pm and will be closed to entrants 30 minutes prior to their category start time. Timing chips available (R50.00) at registration as per the League Timing chip – Mobii

 

The format will be as follows:

• Cat 3 – start at 14:00 race for 30 minutes and 1 lap / R75.00 online entry fee
  • Youth (U12, U14, U16)
    

  [*]Cat 2 – start at 14:45 race for 60 minutes and 1 lap / R190.00 online entry fee

  • Vets, Masters, Ladies, Open & Funride
    

  [*]Cat 1 – start at 16:00 race for 90 minutes and 1 lap / R190.00 online entry fee

  • Elites, Juniors, Sub-Vets
    

Please note:

• By entering the full Summer series online upfront, a R120.00 discount will apply for Cat 1 & 2
  
• Entries will be accepted on the day of the race at a fee of R250.00 for Cat 1 & 2 and R95.00 for Cat 3.

Weekly prize money allocation (paid out at the end of the series):

• CAT1 Elites: First 3 to cross the finish line (1st R750 / 2nd R500 / 3rd R300)
  
• CAT1 Sub-Vets: First 3 to cross the finish line (1st R400 / 2nd R300 / 3rd R200)
  
• CAT2: First 3 to cross the finish line (1st R300 / 2nd R200 / 3rd R100)
  

Series prize money allocation (based on series points) (paid out at the end of the series):

• LADIES: 1st R500 / 2nd R300 / 3rd R200
  
• VETS: 1st R500 / 2nd R300 / 3rd R200
  
• MASTERS: 1st R500 / 2nd R300 / 3rd R200
  
• JUNIORS: 1st R500 / 2nd R300 / 3rd R200
  
• UNDER16: 1st R500 / 2nd R300 / 3rd R200
  

These events are CSA Sanctioned and will operate under the rules of the UCI.
