What road bike

Hi Guys,

Need some advise. My wife and I have been cycling for about 18 months. We are not serious cyclists and time in the saddle is limited due to work and family responsibilities (Kids). We do mostly spinning during the week and try and do 1 or two mount-bike events a month. We entered the Argus this year and have to admit were a bit relieved when the distance was reduced but also a bit disappointed. During our training we cycled a few popular training routes (between Somerset west and Stellenbosch and up towards Franschoek ) and couldn't help noticing how much faster the road bikes seem to be going than the MTB. OK I admit we are green when it comes to cycling but it just seems so much easier.

Now 2 questions:

1. Would it be worth while investing in a road bike for next year Argus ( and a few built up race ).

2. What would be a good value road bike for me and my wife - considering our level of experience.

I just want to make things easier. I hate swaarkry!

Thanks

Jip...I think road bikes would make life easier....the trick is to find bikes that fit you ...and I will suggest bikes with a more relaxed geometry. ..lekka taller headtubes ..places the handlebars within easier reach....longer wheelbase...more stable ride..less twitchy. ..leave that to the race snakes....you'll enjoy the riding much more....☺
