Rebuild wheel with 130mm spacing to 135

Hi, I have a road wheelset that is sitting idle. It has the standard 130 rear spacing. My new bike is a cyclocross steed with 135. I'd like to us the spare rear on a trainer (putting a trainer tyre on a cyclocross wheel is a mission). Braking won't be an issue on a trainer, as long as I don't try it on the road, thereby binning me and the bike.

So what do I need? Can this be done? It'll be more cost effective than a new wheel I think.

You have 2 options:

1. Replace the hub with one that has 135mm spacing. (this will cost you a wheel rebuild)

2. Replace the axle assembly with a 135mm one. (depends on the hub you have)

Note: the spokes on some non-disc wheels will contact the disc brake caliper if your bike has disc brakes.

I've used a 130mm rear wheel in a MTB frame for IDT use with no issues (flexy steel frame)

Not sure a carbon fibre frame would like that too much. Will see what my LBS has to say in the morning.
