I 'm looking for straight connectors for making up a new brake line for a Avid Elixir brake .

It seems like there is nothing available from any suppliers in SA

Any help / advice ?

Good luck dude! I tried making my own bleed kit for Avid Elixir's about 2 weeks ago. After spending about R200 on connectors (many connectors) and about 200 on petrol driving from place to place i gave up.

I bought normal garden threaded connects, they are plastic and the thread strips very quickly. They connect to the back brake but they are too short to fit into the lever.

I contacted Hyflo who deal with pneumatic connects but the thread on here is about half the length of the plastic garden connects. Nobody and i mean nobody (I called about 10 pneumatic and hydraulic places in CT) has the correct length i needed.

The only other option was to get one made from an engineering shop but if i did that i might as well buy the proper bleed kit. They told me that an engineering shop would charge about R500 an hour.

I know you are looking to make a new brake line but connectors like that are super hard to find locally.

Just buy a new hose. It comes with all the connectors you need.

There are other options available if you're dead set on making up your own one though - Quaxar, Alligator and Goodridge all do the fittings you need.

No Alligator in stock

No Quaxar in stock

Goodridge ..... don't want to buy from overseas

Might get a complete Jagwire hose ...

Any particular reason you don't just get an Avid hose?

For Goodridge, try International Race Supplies.
