Mavic crossmax sl rearwheel issue - baffeling,

Ok, so I am trying to fit the mavic crossmax sl 29er rear wheel on my Cotic. The rear wheel came with the QR adapters as the cotic frame is not thru axle compatible.

 

The wheel does not fit. It is almost like the axle it too short. The cassette pushes against the frame, so abviously the wheel does not turn

There are as far as i know two reasons why a cassette wiukd rub against the frame. One could be that the lockring is nit tightened; it wasn't that.

 

I am getting the frame resprayed and removed the rear mech hanger which sits on the inside of the frame................
