Looking for a used bike to be donated

Hi Hubbers,

 

I have a less fortunate guy who has been cycling on an ancient and almost beyond repair GT road bike.

 

I have looked at what's wrong with it. The list is quite long and includes:

Wheels need new spokes and to be rebuilt

Cups and cones on the hubs are pitted "moer toe" so needs new hubs

Needs a new BB

Needs new brake cables and brake pads

Headset is loose but not stuffed, easy to strip and re-grease and reassemble

New chain

Gears (chain rings and cluster) are worn but functional)

Deraileurs old but I can probably get them to work

 

He cant afford to have this work done to the bike and I can't sponsor it at this time either.

 

I previously donated cycling kit to him because he has a dream of riding in this year's 94.7

 

It would be great there was a Hubber out there who could and would donate a road bike to him.

 

Frame size 58cm but could work on a 56 but he is a township guy, not a racing snake.

 

Doesn't matter how old but at least serviceable.
