Steerer change from taper to straight

The bearing is a 6.5mm and there is a housing that needs to hold the bearing in place and fit into the frame to hold it all in place. I think it's fair to assume that the bearing will be another few millimetres below the crown as the whole set up needs to create enough space for a 1.5" steerer to fit into a 1 1/8" hole. I would say it's at least 11mm. No big deal but it will relax the ride.

How much are we looking at here?

Is it a change from xc geometry to enduro, or barely noticeable?

It will be a about half a degree slacker. It's a negligible difference to be honest, especially on the Revel frame the OP mentioned.
