Men’s Races

 

 

We are proud to introduce the revised KZN Summer Series for Men.

 

The 2017 KZN Summer Series is presented by Cycling South Africa in conjunction with the KZN Department of Sport & Recreation and will be a series of two one day races that will take place from Saturday 25^th – Sunday 26^th March 2017. The races will be CSA National Category races and all conditions traditionally associated with an event of this stature will apply.

 

The races will be staged in the vicinity of Pietermaritzburg in Kwazulu – Natal, South Africa although dependent on negotiations, one of the races may start and finish in Durban. The current planned routes for the three races are approximately 110km – 140km long and once all planning is meetings have been completed with the local authorities, the routes will be published.

 

As far as the participation criteria for these races and the series is concerned, the following apples:

-

the 2017 edition of the series will allow for a maximum of 30 x teams only to take part

-

each team must have a minimum of four riders and a maximum of six riders starting each race

-

in order to enter the series, teams must ride both races, these being on the Saturday and the Sunday

-

whilst each race is a stand-alone independent entity, each race will carry points for the KZN Summer Series competition and depending on where riders finish in each race will dictate how many points they will earn towards the overall series competition

-

prizemoney will be on offer for each race and the overall series category

-

all riders competing must be in possession of a full racing license from Cycling South Africa or their national federation if applicable

-

entry into the races is open to the following:

Club teams

there is no entry fee for riders or teams

no age limit applies

All teams wanting to be part of the 2017 KZN Summer Series races need to apply for inclusion in the race by no later than 15^th February 2017 – applications to be sent via email to the Race Director, Alec Lenferna at alec@realem.co.za.

 

 

The teams that will be accepted into the races will be at the sole discretion of the organising committee and once the 30 x starting slots have been filled, no further applications will be entertained. Priority will be given to those teams that a) commit to the races as soon as possible, and b) commit to competing in both races.
