XT M8000 Brake Upgrade / Deore Compatibility

Quick update - I booked a minor service and had the new brakes fitted at the same time.  My old brakes were safely retained for donation to a buddy who's still stuck with old V-brakes.  I've been on a couple of short rides since getting the bike back; I made an effort to bed in the brakes by doing several full stops from speed using first rear and then front brakes.

Initially I thought I wasn't feeling much difference, but then I realised that braking really is much stronger now - I can lock up the rear wheel on tar with no effort at all.  As part of my short route, I go over a pedestrian bridge and I noted that I was able to easily modulate my speed on the steep downhill portion with only one finger on each brake.  I also observed the distance covered when coming to a full stop has diminished dramatically.  So whilst the sensation remains largely the same, there are definite indications that braking is greatly improved.

My only (unrelated) disappointment is that when fetching the bike I managed to break off the really flimsy little clutch lever on my XT rear derailleur and it now seems to be stuck in an in-between position, which makes it very hard to remove and replace the rear wheel.  But that's a problem for another day.  Thanks again to everybody for your valued inputs.
