Oooops - what went wrong ?

Hello Everyone - need your advice please.

I have a great set of classic wheels.

My aim was to convert the freebody from one famous make to another.

Via the friendly BikeHub, I soon had the contact details of the wheel importer.

I describe what I wanted to do and supply photo of my wheels.

The importer gives me the product codes, but cannot sell to me directly.

So I approach my LBS and place the order.

The stuff arrives, all excited I start pulling my wheel hub apart.

Without even removing the new bits from the sealed plastic bag,

I soon realise the new parts are not going to work.

I approach the importer again and with photos of his parts, and my disassembled hub,

explain that the parts are wrong.

His answer is "These are old. Sorry I wasn't aware that you had such an old set of wheels.

We only manufacture spares for the last 5 years, we wont be able to help at all.

Enjoy them and take care of them, they are classics"

My response to this is "That's unfortunate, but what do I do with this freehub,

which was erroneously supplied?"

The importer has not responded yet, I just wanted to get some ideas on your thoughts.

Thanks.

Fabs.

He should have known there was a different older version of the hubs and asked more questions to make sure they gave you the correct product.

Return for full refund is the what I would expect - I would just classify it as an honest mistake and move along - although I would fact check that the parts are no longer available first.

Quick update : importer and supplier made good without many questions added.

Honest mistake done, and got a full refund.

Big compliments, and that's the way to do business.
