I've just invested in the new PT MTB hub which I've had fitted into a Stan's notubes rim with DT competition spokes. The hub adds about 300 grams to the weight of the wheel.

I'm also going to post some of the numbers from the last three races that I did.

A couple of interesting points:

1. Power output  is highly variable (even more so than on the road) mainly due to the varied terrain.

2. I have not generated any significant peaks under 20 mins and power output stays largely in the L3/l4 "sweetspot" area. I suspect that this is due the nature of MTBing being a long time trial.

3. The PT is invaluable for pacing startegy in MTBing as it can prevent you burning out over the first half of the race (again similar to TT).

Hi,

I have just converted from an Ergomo to a powertap for MTB.  So far a much prefer the powertap!

I agree with you 10% re mountainbike races, they really are like a long timetrial and a power meter is brilliant for pacing!

what do you weigh out of interest ?
