Hi people

I have been a social MTB rider for the past 10 years, and have started to ride more trails and longer rides.

I want to upgrade the old bike, I have an old avalanche 2 with a XT set and have never had a days issue, i want to let my youngster use it.

I dont really see myself doing the K2C, i just enjoy trails and short rides under 50Km.

I have 4 bikes in mind, apprciate your feedback:

Momson Al229 or Al329

Titan Elite

Giant Talon1

Scott??

I still want to kit the youngster out so dont want to spend more than 12 -15K

What is the most important componant to consider, i hear the entry level Shimano gear is good?

appreciate your guidence

thanks

In that price range:

Worth buying second hand, either on the Hub or at a dealer

Light aluminium hardtail 29er

Shimano SLX components are fantastic and all you need

Light air fork, like a Rockshox Reba

Good light wheels make a big difference

Without knowing more information (like type of trails and distances), I'll just recommend a dual suss trail bike due to their more forgiving nature and relaxed geometry.

Something like this:

In your price range (assuming seller is neg), and way more bike spec wise than a new equivalent; frame size dependent of course.

As for Shimano, most people consider anything SLX and up to be tops, with deore not too bad.
