Hey Guys/Girls..

Another newbie here, luckily few months old :) so don't run or increase cadence yet.

I bought my first mtb almost a year ago to ride weekends and holidays with family, but also wanted to have the ability to go a bit further. I unfortunately don't have the means or budget, so I used what I had and got a Silverback Slade 4.

After riding now for sometime and reading up, I've noticed a few warnings about not riding hard or do jumps/stunts with Silverback, obviously I'm no red bull daredevil, but what is considered hard riding? I went to Oak Valley in December and I'm really hooked now, done my first 20km event at the Getaway mtb challenge at Lourensford, was a struggle uphill and some of single track but managed.

How far can I push the Slade 4?

Is single track fine or should I try and stick to jeep tracks?

Thanks,

Thomas

The short answer is you can ride as much single track as you want.

When it comes to riding features. Your bikes components may not be intended for hard riding. But it will gladly tackle a couple of roots and pavement sized drops without a problem.

Once you start riding features frequently. Doing them faster and faster.

Gaining confidence as you progress. Inevitably you'll reach a point where your skill set exceeds the bikes limitations. When this time presents itself. You'll know...
