There was Karoobaix earlier this week, it was brutal so might fit the bill for next year. Have a look at <https://www.karoobaix.co.za/> and <http://theradavist.com/> there's not much coverage up so far but 2 really nice profiles of bikes from the race. And on instagram @karrobaix and @theradavist or search #karoobaix on Instagram to see what it was like.
