Silverback review please!

Hey all I saw the 2008 Silverback Phoenix in the Bicycling mag and it was reviewed as being pretty sweet. A couple hubbers have mentioned it as well, but does anyone own one or know any more about them? Are their frames decent? I've googled them but being a SA brand its hard to find reviews. Thanks!

A friend just bought 1, really nice bike he said. Good quality for the buck aswell. But apparently they are hard to getnow days because shimano has a shortage of parts. So order quickly

i have a 2007 model i ride it pretty hard and the only thing i have had to replace are the brake pads and the seat clamp was slipping a little and when i tightened it with a big rachet i stripped the clamp so i have had to replace the seat post, but other than that i have had no beef.

I used to have a 07 one they are pretty nice. The only problem i had was that when it rained the water goes into the shock nd clogs it abit. but its a nice bike for the price

Hey everyone thanks a million for your opinions but I ended up getting the mongoose- check it out in the photos forum under my new mtb!!!

I have the 2008 Silverback Alpine which is a model below the phoenix but has exactly the same frame and componenets except for a slightly different front fork and the phoenix has mechanical disks. I'm pretty happy with my alpine. bang for buck, nothing comes close.

 

I've been racing mine for a couple of months now and so far so good. You might want to change your fork once you get into it as the Suntours are pretty crappy. I upgraded mine to Tora 318 air solo.

 

All in all i would say a great bike though.
