Hi Bike Hubbers

To those of you who will be rideing the 2019 Absa Cape Epic or has ridden any stage races in the past

Could you guys perhaps give me advise  on what you guys want when buying a support package for a event like the absa cape epic.

The reason for this is that my team ( Pace Cycles SA ) will be giving event support next year at the absa cape epic and I want the best for my clients

What should a support package include?

Take care of the bike from start to finish, e.g. at Epic you get the bike in CT (prologue), collect from wash, service, manage transport to stage 1...

Always send rider an SMS when bike is sorted and ready - then we sleep better.

Agree on a small fee limit - so you can fix small issues without waiting for go-ahead.

Check and re-slime tires daily.

Have someone quickly wipe / dry the bikes in the morning - hate a wet bike.

If it is cold at night, throw an (plugged in and switched on) electric blanket over the bike in order to keep the babies warm.

Maybe add the option to break down and box a bike for shipping to preferred destination after the event if the client needs that? For an extra fee, of course.

To set yourself apart from other service packages - maybe do something like print and laminate the daily profile, and if the client wants it stick it to his top tube at the beginning of every stage? Also, wash and fill up their water bottles before each stage with preferred nutrition?

It's al;l small things, but that can make the experience nicer.

Put the route sticker on every day...

Use a consistent tire pressure guage - an accurate 1

Service everything every day - INCLUDING for the last day - had 2 service teams just do absolutely nothing on the night before the last day - not even lube the chain....

Collect and prep the bike for transport/from transport

Move additional gear if needed (those bags are small)

Publish EXACTLY where you are in the service park every day - running around looking for service is a pain
