Come do the FUNKY! Choose your distance and ride on some of the most picturesque and exciting mountain trails in the Western Cape.

The Funky Challenge stage race requires an above average level of fitness and technical skills and traverses some of the most beautiful private farms within the Walker Bay conservancy, and is only available to ride on race days. The trails offer a little of everything, tough climbs and switchbacks, great single track fast, exhilarating descents and a 2km fun gravity finish with jumps and berms to rest your legs into the finish. The Funky festival should be a lekka weekend of really awesome riding combined with loads of fun.  The way I understand it is that the main event is a 2 day stage race, day one being the great white route and day two having fun on some of day one's climbs.

 

There will be loads of other events (trails run, fishing, swimming etc) as well as some lap racing (still to be finalised).

 

The new single track is pretty awesome and we hope to add some more before September.  I reckon this ride will be very good prep for the Eselfontein 2 day event. 

 

Feedback from the great white was that it was a tough but very good day on the bike - a true all mountain experience.  Good climbs with some fast techy downhills. 

 

I hope to get some more info re the accommodation planned and will post as soon as I get it.

Update  -  Went for a "little" test ride....... LOL no such thing out here in Funky Fynbos land. Ended up with a fantastic varied ride with some Funky Fynbos "noobs". They hail from our neighboring village - Hermanus. Words & sounds were expressed at various stages of the ride. Ranging from - did you see that !! - ugh - yipee - woohoo to holy moly that was fast  

 

Glad to give the guys a little taste of what to expect @funkyfynbosfestival,  ounded off with some nice craft beer @Lomond.

Hahahahahah, took a bit of strain on the SS. The 32x19 might need a reconsider. But the clbs are short lived....... Maybe a 17?
