Wheels

My rear wheel started to tear on the outside and nobody could give me an answer on why did it happen as the wheel was never inflated above 2.1 bar.

Now I need to source a new wheel or possibly a new set. I do not want to overspend on the bike as I want to sell it by year end and upgrade to a dual suspension.

My current wheels is standard wheels from a Specialized Comp Carve.

Browsing through the classifieds saw the following:

Bontrager Mustang Elite

Kore Wheels

ZTR Crest

I do not know wheels that much and your opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I am also not a "wheel" pro...but one thing I can say and notice your selection includes wheels with both Quick release and Thru-axle hubs, please make sure which hubs you need for your bike, otherwise you might sit with a wheel set you can not use.

Quick release

or

Thru axle

Not 100% sure...but some bikes could even have a QR and a Thru axle hub (front / rear)...just make sure before you buy.

Especially if you're not wanting to keep the bike for a long time, just replace the rim and have the wheel rebuilt.

I may actually have a rim you can have for free, which might be identical and you can use your existing spokes.

This will be your most economical solution as all you'll pay for is labour and nipples.

If you buy a new rim and have to get new spokes, you're in for at least R2000.
