Shimano Tiagra shifter with 3x crankset

Hi Guys, 

 

Just wanted to find out if you need a specific shifter to run a 3 x crankset on a road bike?

 

The parts in question are the Tiagra shifters, mated with a triple ring derailller (Ultegra) and and triple crankset. 

 

I know it was previously fitting to a bike using Campy shifters, just not sure if it works with Shimano as well.

Yip you would need a 3X shifter.
