Miles for MIA CPT - GEORGE cycle for deaf 2 year-old.

The 'Miles for MIA' campaign is a cycling event from Cape Town to George, aimed at raising funds for Mia Lotz's cochlear implants. This event will commence on 30 September, just 3 days after her 2nd birthday, and will finish on 6 October.

 

Rudolph Maree, Reghardt van Rensburg and Hannes van der Merwe will be cycling from Durbanville with the aim of relieving the tremendous financial burden on Mia and Mia's parents during a very emotionally challenging time in their lives.

 

The route will be as follows:

 

Day 1:   Durbanville to Greyton = 106km, 1000m elevation

Day 2: Greyton to Swellendam = 110km, 1200m elevation

Day 3: Swellendam to Riversdal = 90km, 1000m elevation

Day 4: Riversdal to Calitzdorp = 114km, 1800m elevation

Day 5: Calitzdorp to Oudtshoorn = 76km, 1400m elevation

Day 6: Oudtshoorn to George = 82km, 1400m elevation

 

This amounts to a total distance of 578km and almost 8000m of elevation. And yet, Mia's road to hearing-recovery is a much longer and steeper climb to overcome.

 

With your help we might be able to make a difference in Mia's battle to be able to hear again.

Sponsors will also be very welcome. What we, as the cycling team, may need: Spare mountain bike tyres and chains, any accommodation at Greyton and Swellendam, (even a backyard in which we may pitch our tents will be perfect.) And we certainly won’t decline any meals.
