Grass Track or Short course Racing

I was wondering how many single speaders would be interested in a monthly grass track or short course XCO type league.

The grass track would be roughly the size of a standard sports field and racing would consist of a number of 350-400 meter loops on grass inside the velodrome.

The short course MTB track would consist of very badic single track with minimal climbing, would includee the burms and bumps of a old BMX track as well as a single lap around a velodeome that will also act as the feeding and teck zone. The course has not been laid out in its final form but I estimate a lap to be between 1.5 and 2 km.

The venue has a grand stand, clubhouse with showers, sime nice grass to pitch gazebo’s etc. and is just south of the City at Hector Nortis Park.

Although the idea is to have primarily single speed racing, We could include. a cat for cyclo cross type bikes.

This is really just an idea that has come to mind to increase the use of the facility.

There is currently Single speed track racing and coaching every Saturday as well as groups training on the velodrome some afternoons and evenings.

The events will need to be sanctioned and could consist of at least two or 3 different races per age group/ cat depending on the number of cats.

At about R100 a pop this would be viable if we could attract at least 50 tiders per event and small title sponsorship could ve secured.

If you think this can work or would be interested to be the title sponsor of such an event, please send me a PM.

This is not a private money making initiative and all procedes will go towards the upkeep of the track and facilities. Alternatively the facilities could be made available to a race organiser at a fee per event.

There are some steap banks on the grounds as well if the single speaders like to test their climbing legs

A basic schools type mtb track will be laid out shortly, but there will be options to add alternative lines that are more challenging.
