Ceiling fan - electrical question

Hey guys - 

 

We recently bought 2 ceiling fans and had them installed. No problems there.

 

Now, these fans come with a standard 4 speed wall switch but for the main bedroom we opted to fit a remote control unit instead. However, this RC unit has only 3 speeds and the lowest speed is not as low as we would like. 

 

Would it be possible to install the standard 4 speed wall switch along with the RC unit? I guess that would give us 12 speed as a result but would it be ok for the fan motor and RC unit or would it be an issue?
