went to the presentation of mavic's 09 stuff last night.

some really cool things for next year. but the big thing was the mavic "soft goods" - clothing and shoes?and you're gonna need deep pockets. mavic is taking the technologies it used to develop adidas' range and branding it as its own for next year. the french company has partnered up with outdoor apparel manufacturer salomon to produce it and develop future shoes. the stuff looks cool - subtle branding, organic colours, nice cuts.

highlights:

the chamois are awesome. 

the huez road shoe - very light, very stiff, with a nifty heel counter.

there's a great freeride shoe. and the mtb shoe soles seem to be very grippy.

the new crossmax slr - looks awesome!

the computers and e-skewers are lustworthy.

mavic are promising an investment in improving service and availability; there is an "emergency box" that an lbs can buy to ensure that they have spares to sort your problems out immediately.

the dude from france also claimed some serious weight-savings on some of the new range of wheels, but he kinda had to rush through the second part of the presentation as peeps were getting restless.
