I need some info regrading the workings of the system.

I do have a Centurion D5 motor and it is working from the digikey platform if I may call it this way.

Now my issue: The gate started to open and halfway it stopped all together. The motor is fine when running directly from the battery, but when hooked up to the system there is no response. When pressing the remote there is just this clicking sound. I asked a contractor to have a look at the system and his conclusion was power surge that damaged the pc board.

Question is power surge at all possible? The motor was drawing current in its operating cycle so how is power surge possible when there is a constand flow of current. I know that power surge is when something stopped and then started again or an exess flow of electricity to a device.

If it was power surge could it be that when I tried to operate the motor that the surge could've happened? If it is a yes why did the motor stop in the first place when there was no physical obstruction?

Last question on the power surge, should there be any signs on the pc board that will indicate that something has burnt?

My Go-To sequence for D5 motors:

How old is the battery? Have you tried a new battery?

Try to "trigger" the gate by taking a short piece of wire and bridging the "COM" to the "TRG" terminal. If this doesn't work then there is definitely issues with the main board.

If it is not the battery and the COM-TRG test doesn't yield any response, call their customer support line to assist with faultfinding. 0861 003 123 (RSA Sharecall number)

If that doesn't isolate the problem, unclip the connectors from the main Control unit and just take the main unit in to one of their branches to have them check it out for you.(don't loosen the scews to remove the wires, those connectors come loose from the main control board to keep your wiring scheme intact)

Lastly, have you checked that your battery is not on it's way out....?

(PS: I worked there for 3 years)

@Swift the first thing that I did is to buy a new battery, only then I contacted a contractor to have a look.

Have noted your suggestions and I will try and see if there is any movement and take it from there.
