Beginner cyclist

Hi All. 

I am a beginner cyclist looking to venture to the open road along Bottlery Road. Please let me know if there are any social groups to join in the Kuilsriver area.

Hi Michelle, welcome! Bottlery road is a very popular route, the square from stellies up towards the N1, on botties to kuilsriver and back via polkadraai is probably the most popular regular route in the area.

I can't speak to any regular groups for a beginner to join but most days there will be enough other riders for you to be safe before or after work hours like in the mornings 05:30 - 07:00 ish although beware of traffic and remember to always ride with lights and spares.

One thing to note if you do that block on your own, take the road that runs past Devonvale golf estate and JC Leroux then through Devon Valley to avoid riding past Kayamandi on your own, their have been a lot of opportunistic crimes on that road usually when riders are alone.
