Launched in 1990, the Ride for Sight is Retina South Africa’s flagship fundraiser, dedicated to advancing retinal research and supporting people with vision loss.

Now in its 37th year, the event has grown into one of South Africa’s largest inclusive cycling experiences, welcoming thousands of riders—including para-cyclists using tandems and handcycles—and raising over R13 million to date.

The event is hosted at Boksburg City Stadium, Gauteng and offers three race distances:

• 116 km

• 62 km

• 10 km

The 2026 edition is part of the Mzansi National Road Series and is expected to attract over 4000 participants.

I just wanted to find out: on the 125km route, after the start, will the participants turn left on Jubilee Road, then make a U-turn, or will they be turning right at the start of the race?

According to the map on the website, you turn right immediately after the start.
