Don't own a road bike. Only MTB. I ride mostly on dirtroads' date=' singletrack. Many nasty climbs. A chain (HG93) will rarely last more than 1500km. At 1800km it will start eating the casette. Been there, done that... I meticulously clean and lube the chain regularly.

I measure it with a Park tool and the 12 inch ruler.

Aaah, a belt, braces and elasticated waistband type of guy uh?

First it is the Park tool, then the ruler, then the odometer. I'm sure you've then picked up the inconsistencies in some of these systems of yours. Tell us about it.

BTW, how many locks on your front door?

...and whatever you do' date=' DO NOT do a Google search using the first of those key phrases.

Seriously though. Johan, didn't you have a chain article posted on your website? I had a quick look but couldn't find it.

Sometimes I'm just to naive for my own good. Thanks for the disclaimer.

Regarding my articles on the website.

I had that article on my website but then I had a spat with someone who called himself a webmaster and my website is now a mess. One of many victims of the disagreement was my library of technical articles. They're now in Word form on my hard disk. That's why I offer to e-mail them to people who are interested.

As soon as I have the inclination, I'll learn how to do those things myself and fix the darn website.
