Worst attended drifter race ever?

I see from the results of the Chandelier Drifter that only 60 riders finished in the long distance. What could have been the problem? Is this a new trend?

Well i see ?a few reasons

1. Credit crunch

2. Cederberg Mtb race?

3. West coast express - League and very popular funride

4. Double century coming up and teams choose to long rides opposed to a race?

 

all those add up to low numbers

It just was too much of a mission for me to make this one, all the way out to oudshoorn, and too expensive. Especially after doing the Knysna MTB and Road race during the oyster festival earlier this year.

 

Stellenbosch was a trek too. Same thing happened last year at the Koranna and Haenertsberg race, both dropped from the series this year. it would probably make more sense for the organizers / sponsors to get the major races to buy back into the drifter series again (Karkloof, Eston, Knysna, Asishove etc etc...)
