Pilgrims race cancelled

Well all the plans are in place, accomodation organised and on top of it I turned down an important awards function because I was going to do the Pilgrims Rest race this weekend.

 

But, without any fanfare or big announcements it has quietly been cancelled.

 

I don't know when the decision to cancell it was made, but to find out at such short notice is just very rude.

It is bad form, and a pity, because it is a great weekend away to go race in Pilgrims. I did it a few years ago, camped and really enjoyed the race.

Same thing happened with the 3-day Outsurance Expedition.

 

To be fair they still gave a the branded Fox clothing & kitbag, refunded our entryfee and then put us up in the Garden Court for the night and invited us to ride the 70km race on Sunday.

 

Also, the number of races available every weekend plus economic downturn means that sometimes there is not enough entries to justify the cost of hosting a race.

Any idea on the reason behind the cancelling of these events, was it low participation? They do fall very close to Sabie which may reduce possible numbers.

seeing as though there've been so few responses I think it was maybe cancelled due to lack of interest........... zzzzzzz
