Newb needs help

Hallo everone, lookin to buy my first bike. Not really sure on all the specs or any of the models. If anybody could suggest a few entry level hardtails for 4000-5000 that would be great. Thanks

Hi MadMan. There are lots of posts on this topic. Good well-priced entry level bikes include Silverback, Giant, GT, Commencal, Merida and others. You should look for the best shock and brakes for your money. They might be a bit too pricy, but try get a bike with a RockShox fork and Avid or Shimano disc brakes if possible.

 

You can get a much better deal second-hand. I sold my Giant XTC2 worth R12000 for R6000 when it was 8 months old. There are lots of bargains in Classifieds here. There is also a topic on discounted new Rocky Mountain bikes at very good prices under Classifieds.

 

Visit a few bike shops and get familar with components on the bikes, and try out different sizes and frames for comfort.

Hi MadMan,It also depends on what kind of riding you want to do.If you only want to ride around the block to get fit or want to do offroad races will also determine what kind of bike you will need
