Albert's farm are miles away from Melville koppies. The two will never meet.

They are miles away, and do meet... I normally ride from Melville to Albert's Farm.

At the intersection of Judith and Beyers Naude, there's a gate into Melville Koppies west. Go straight up the hill, keeping to between the koppie and the fence. This is a lekker, tough, steep uphill. Watch out for the anti-erosion ridges - don't break them down, please!!!

After a while you'll get to the fence around West Park Cemetary. Follow this until you get a gate. About 20m after the gate is a path up the hill to the left into a little ravine. Follow this and it'll take you onto the ridge under the flats. Follow the jeep track until the gate by the pylons. Just after the gate is a path to the right or you can go straight (they both end up at the same place). You'll end up at the end of Twist road.

Follow the road downhill & across West Park Road, Long and Fifth & you'll end up in Albert's Farm...

I have a GPS track somewhere...

BTW, don't try to follow the fence all the way along the back along the cemetary - unless you like fighting your way through the bushes...

Sorry - I forgot the obligatory word of warning:

This side is remote and there have been muggings of walkers (I don't know about cyclists).

Jmacceleri' date=' so you can ride from the one to the other crossing a few roads and going through a few fences. The two are not connected.

If they weren't connected by roads and gates in fences, I wouldn't be able to get from one to the other...

By your definition Jhb and CT are not connected since there are some roads in between and some gates (where you even have to pay!!!).

They are not DIRECTLY connected, but are CLOSELY connected, but you never stated that.

Let's not get all pedantic here, shall we? The basic fact is that you can easily & happily get from one to the other whilst turning your cranks over some nice track and humming to yourself...

Okay so it's the same as starting at Albert's Farm to go and ride the MTN bike park. They are also connected then.

Sleepy Yawn... Whatever.

I'm sure you'll get over it...

I agree!!!

Sometime you can't know everything mampara!!!

Just a word of caution. Guys I know have been held up with guns on Mellville Koppies. It is pretty remote. Please don't go there in groups less than six or so.

After going up Alberts, we usually ride down the rock garden but you have to know your stuff.

The way to find the link from Albertsfarm. When you cross the Swampdog (woof!) bridge at the bottom of Alberts you basically go straight up onto the road instead of turning left to go bak towards Emmerentia. That road is about 1.5kms long and crosses 2 busy-ish roads. As you cross the second road the hill becomes pretty steep. You will see the gap in the fencewhere this road makes a 90 deg left turn.
