Frame Size Help Needed

Can anyone please advise me on how to determine what size frame to buy?

I am looking at buying a BMC FS03 (Softail)

 

My height: 187cm

My inseem: 86cm

 

I currently ride a 21inch BMC TE03 Hardtail.

I think I should be riding a 19inch bike though!

 

One formula I got from the web says to take your inseem measurement and multiply it by .65 which gives me 56cm.

My tri bike was a 56cm.

 

For a mountainbike they say to subtract 10cm which would be 46cm which equals 18.4inches

 

So 19inches is much closer to the right size than a 21inch!

My upper torso seems to be a bit longer, so that's probably why the guys at my LBS think I should have a 21inch.

 

Maybe they are roght, but not according to this formula.

 

Any thoughts to help me?

i always thought a good way of measuring was to stand over the bike, pull it up untill it touches your nuts, and seei f there is a t least 12cm clearance. or else u gonna hurt something.
