I'm sure the cinema popcorn is oil popped' date=' not air popped... I've seen them pouring 5 litre bottles of oil into those popcorn machines.

No man! They get the Popcorn pe-popped from the Catering Company, I've seen them taking out big a$$ bags of popcorn and empty it out in the popcorm mashien to keep it warm, I HOPE THEY don't then go and ass oil / Butter ect to it.

I don't think they do... but I'm only talking about Ster-Kinecor now.

I went from 72.5kg to 74.7kg TooHot..

No, the pop corn is popped fresh in the kitchen in the back. The big bags you see are what has been pre popped in the kitchen so that they can cope with demand at peak times. It is not stale and I promise that you wouldnt taste the difference between freshly popped stuff and stuff that has been decanted into a bag. It only stays in the bag for an hour or so. Cant use it the next day cos then it's stale.

Did Andre get back to you with your info?

He only said the following:

"Every 40 litters of popcorn contains 184.61ml of fresh palm oil that is free of trans fatty acids."

But I always thought they popped it and then shipped it to Ster- Kinecor, but thinking about it now it don't make sence. Wonder if the Stuff members at Ster Kinecor messure the oil they throw into the popcorn...

Pansie, die thread is soos om te kibbel oor watter trip computer die minste weeg.  Jy's bef0k man.  Jy eet popcorn want dis lekker.  Jy worry nie oor calories en **** nie...

Jy het 2kg opgetel omdat jy f-all gedoen het vir 2 weke.

PS:  Microwave cop-porn werk nie.  Jy maak dit met olie op 'n stoof.

They have made up stainless steel containers for the seed, salt and oil. It gets pre-measured and put into a popper whose temperature is thermostatically controlled. Even the heat loss after putting the ingredients in has been checked so that it doesnt take too long too get back up.

This and the drinks is where cinemas make most of their money. The price of your actual ticket when spread over all the performances is close to cost. As you concede, their pop corn is actually good. Its no mean feat to make good pop corn in those volumes. Same thing with the drinks. The water pressure has to be spot on. Try achieve that in some of the centres where the cinemas are located.

Thx for that Dirtbreath.

Don?t you think it?ll be prudent if Ster- Kinecor would indicate the nutritional info on the side of the Popcorn Box Holders?? Then we?d know exactly what?s what?? Is there not a law that states we?d need to this info when buying a item from a shop?<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

MW, I know you are a Fat burner, can you remember what I was?!?! soooo shurrrup!!

It's prepared food. You dont get a sticker with your steak at the steakhouse do you?

There are a whole lot of other regulations that they need to adhere to in terms of preparing foodstuffs.

No... wish I did get one with my steak. I think they should list just how many Calories / Fat is in everything on the Menu. IF www.kauai.co.za/ is doing it' date=' so why can't other places? [/quote']

'Cos thats kauais selling point. You really dont want Steers to tell you how much fat is in their burger. You will be shocked.

As for the popcorn. That 184 ml is less than a cup. That makes more than one of those big bags of pop corn you see carted around. Spread that over all those popped corns and there really isnt that much.

Sweet, we might be going to the movies tonight and I don't want to worry about the fat content and I really don't want to start taking my home made popcorn along!:-/

It is expensive, I usually taek the Nr 11 on the menu, it's a Regular Popcorn and Regular Coke Lite and it comes to R32-50 I think. We use to buy sweets and Coke at PnP and bring it in. But ja, the movies are so cheap we just buy the snacks at the Cinima now..
