?I suffer from chronic DeQuervain's tendonitis ?in the right wrist so changing gears with the

thumb is difficult and painful. Will changing from trigger to twist

grips make

things easier? Comments on the pros and cons of twist grip changers

will be

appreciated.

I have SRAM X 9

triggers and will swop for SRAM

X 9 twists

I once had tendonitis in the thumb where I could not operate Campag ergo gearshifts  but could work Shimano STIs. For a period I switched and then switched back again when the problem went away.

It is difficult for us non-anatomists to predict if you will experience pain with twist shifters or not, so may I suggest you simply try it?

I'm sure your local bike shop won't mind if you spend some time in the shop twisting their grips.

You might unfortunately find that the twist grips replicate the paddling grip that caused your issues. Have you tried a combination of shifting the position of the shifters & brake levers on your bars along with getting some Ergon like bar grips?

Other option would be to switch to Shimano dual action levers, but then you have to change your brakes also..

Tks Guys.

" Ergon like bar grips " I fitted a pair of these this morning.......... will see if it helps the numbness in the fingers. Hopefully then, with time, the wrist might   improve !

I tore the ligament in my right thumb and battle to use triggers. I now use dual control and have no problems whatsoever. The more you ride with them the better you get at just flicking your fingers up and down.

Never tried twist grips so cant compare.
