I've been trying to register with CyclingSA on their web-site, it's a nightmare! Every time I get to the "pay" part, the the site freezes up on me (and yes, I checked that it's not me). So I phoned the contact number, where upon a voice informs me the number is not in use. I sent an email, which was replied to (as in... "just phone this cell number"), where the lady told me she's just sending my email on. Then nothing. Even if it's a problem on my side, something to do with my connection or something that causes the site to freeze up, surely I can just do a deposit... but I was told "no", since I had already started an online application.

 

With all the complaints I've read about CyclingSA on the hub, how can they still be in operation? Maybe "Tread" can do an expose or something... name and shame them, or at least figure out how "myrace" which doesn't seem to work got the contract!

 

Okay, rant finished now.

Really... you think so?

 

Perhaps I didn't make it clear the first time, so let me try again... it hangs when I try to finalise the payment. And more to the point, why can't I just deposit the money into an account at the bank? What about those who don't have access to the internet, or maybe don't have credit cards?

I have to agree with you. I found the interface anything but intuitive and had to enter into an email discussion with CSA to find out whether I was actually registered.

 

 

 

I must admit that I bristle when I read the CSA email newsletters that claim the MyRace system is a great success. In my opinion it is one of the weaker links in the registration process. It is certainly not the level of software that I (as the end user) expect to see in a production environment.

 

 

 

Please note that this is not a personal attack on any CSA employee - I have no personal vendetta. I was disappointed with the system. The help I got from Justin Dowdle (once my query hit his inbox) was great.

I went through this on Friday.

 

Half the clicks (including pay) had a two minute wait.  But the little spinny icon of the browser wasn't twirling.  It must be some JavaScript without proper feedback.

 

I had a problem (still do) with my address and couldn't find a "help" or "contact us" link.  Mailed Carinus in frustration and filled in a bogus address.

 

It's really not intuitive about what the process is that you're supposed to follow to get a license.  With my luck I bought a fishing license instead.  It's definitely not "next" -> "next" obvious.  It's not helpful at all.

 

(and yet another registration process... sigh... csa, myrace, cyclelab entries, championchip, winningtime, ...  Then when you want to update your details you gotta go through all of it *again*.  CSA spent some money to introduce another extra step for their customers.  Backwards.)
