I am planning a weekend trip to Mankele. How does it compare to Giba Gorge? What are the camping facilities like? How far is it to the nearest shop for supplies? etc. All information would be appreciated.

Great Place.

Good camping facilities.

They also have place for washing up dishes ect.

Very clean ablusion facilities.

The best place to get stuff from is in Nelspruit +/- 30km away. We went to the Spar very good braai meet.

They also have lodges and canvas tent that we stayd in. These have their own braai and fridge.

You will enjoy.

We will be back with one of the next races.

If you are going to braai just remember to take a braai with you cant remember if they go fixed one with the camping area.

Green Route: 20km, 480m Accent, Moderate. Don?t let the distance fool you; this is 20km of single track, bush tunnels, bridges, boardwalks and lung bursting climbs. It?s a good work out while having the best time ever on two wheels. Duration 2 - 3 hours.
Red Route: 30km, 728 Accent, Intermediate. This route is an extension of the Green Route. A bit more climbing with awesome views. This is a good long ride with a bit of everything in it. You have a choice of a technical (bush tunnel) or a fun twisty single track back. Escape point is at the green route turn off. Duration 5 hours.
Purple Route: 55km, 1200m Accent, Difficult. The first 15km is a non stop battle with granny gear. The view and single track is well worth the climb. Two escape routes have been marked out. Take lots of water, food and a cell phone. Duration 5 - 8 hours.

Just ask at reception where to start you route you decide on.

You can also do river tubing there, might be a bit cold.

Thei also have a section down the bottom of the campsite that you can practice tecnical skills.

Gremlin's write up is spot on. The campsite is very well maintained and is very big - you won't have problem with privacy. But no trees around, except on boundary.

Closes other town is Sabie at about 45km - not as great as Nelspruit.

No electricity points though, so make sure you can run on gas and batteries!

Only did the 20km route - served up bigger smile than Forest2Falls the next day!

I went there earlier this year for the National DH. What a great weekend, DH course was awesome, can't wait for African Champs in July! This time I definitely want to hit the trails too!

Great camping facilities!
