What is the defferance between these pedals ?

 

Speedplay pedals and normal shimano/look pedals ?

 

 

Anyone experiance with both of these ? I only know Shimano -- guess Look is almost the same.

 

The Speedplays looke really nice - but are they any good (know most tour rides use them but, they don't pick it the have to ride it) How do they clip and unclip ?

 

So any thoughts ?

For starters, the Shimano pedals don't look like that anymore.

 

 

 

People say the Speedplay is good if you suffer from problem knees. They are expensive, even the bottom of the range ones, and their cleats are expensive. Shimano and Look are basically the same. I'm on Shimano because I got tired of always having to used cleat covers to walk anywhere and protect the cleats. But Look has come up with their own type of "walkable" cleats now so it comes down to choice. I would not put Shimano pedals on a Sram (ala LA) or Campy bike. You just do not mix groupsets. Rather go for Look then.

Yeah  I know it changed - just googled shimano, but ja it gave me that.

 

Anyway, what I want to say is. I have knee problems, or actually knee rotation - but will sort that out with BG fit setup at LBS soon, to align the leg and hips over the pedal.

 

Like the look of the Speedplays, but the walk issue will also tire me. Not like we walk around the whole day but, just for that stop or start bit.

 

are a fixed correct cleat setup not better than a free float setup like speedplay ? Mean now your leg can move where ever it wants.. ?

 

I assume if your legs are aligned and everything is good up to your shoes then the float would be better to make sure your body don't hurt itself and stay in its natural position.
