Pegasus Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 I've just purchase a trailer with a bike rack attached to the lid. It has fixed horizontal rails and movable sections attached near the end of the rails that the bike wheels fit into. The front section locks against the bottom rail and the salesman told me that a bungey cord is used to hold the loose back section against the other wheel and keep the bike in place. Long winded explanation with knowing all the technical terms! So I tried it last night and it seems ok. My experience is that stuff that seems very secure in your driveway can behave very differently at 140 on the freeway! Has anyone used this type of trailer mounted bike rack and experienced any problems or have any tips?

I've one or two old toe clip straps lying around and I have a single long one that came with my Thule rack. But I need to carry four bikes.Pegasus2009-06-30 03:00:45
NC_lurker Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Think I've seen the straps at places like Hyperama/Game/Makro. Any supermarket that sells bikes normally has them.
Captain Slow Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 The 'Indian' bike shops like Kyalami Cycles etc. still stock toe clips & straps! In fact any 'dik wiel' bike shop should have them.
