I've just purchase a trailer with a bike rack attached to the lid. It has fixed horizontal rails and movable sections attached near the end of the rails that the bike wheels fit into. The front section  locks against the bottom rail and the salesman told me that a bungey cord is used to hold the loose back section against the other wheel and keep the bike in place.

Long winded explanation with knowing all the technical terms! So I tried it last night and it seems ok.

My experience is that stuff that seems very secure in your driveway can behave very differently at 140 on the freeway!

Has anyone used this type of trailer mounted bike rack and experienced any problems or have any tips?

Thanks.

Where  would I buy those? I don't want to buy toe clips fro the straps.

I've one or two old toe clip straps lying around and I have a single long one that came with my Thule rack. But I need to carry four bikes.
